The Member of Parliament for the Upper Manya Krobo constituency,Hon. Bismark Tetteh Nyarko has paid a working visit to struggling Asesewa Government Hospital to acquaint himself with problems for intervention.
Asesewa government hospital is one of the health facilities in the country going through logistical, financial and infrastructural challenges impeding quality healthcare.
The MP said he had come to see at first hand reports he has been receiving from some agitating hospital staff and find amicable solutions to the problems.
The Medical Superintendent Dr. Dorvlo welcomed the MP and took time to enumerate the myriad of problems facing the hospital.
“The rampant shortage of oxygen at the facility is a big challenge but not peculiar to the Asesewa Government Hospital.” Dr Dorvlo said.
The Medical doctor said overhead expenditure is running high while many of their clients are unable to pay medical bills whenever they are rendered services due to high levels of poverty in the area.
Dr. Dorvlo commended the MP for donation of the autoclave and surgical lamp to the hospital months ago stating that,it has reduced mortality rate as surgical procedures are successfully done in the hospital instead of referring clients to Koforidua.
The Lawmaker described as unacceptable the rampant shortage of oxygen which is a critical part of emergency services.
“If oxygen is insufficient in all hospitals in the country, then, I have to take it to national level .”The MP said.
The MP, was later taken round some of the wards and the operating theater.
Hon.Bismark Tetteh Nyarko assured the Medical Superintendent that he will do his best to provide the necessary equipment to the hospital to create a conducive working environment and for the benefit of his constituents.
