The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has disconnected power supply to the district office of Upper West Akyem Health directorate over Ghc35,000.
The debt was incurred by the Assembly when occupying the office years ago untill relocating to their new office facility.
Although the health directorate has been paying its monthly bills since operating in the facility, however, ECG says the debt on the meter must be paid by the assembly hence the disconnection a month ago.
“The office was first occupied by the district assembly who failed to pay their bills. The GHS since moving to the facility has been paying but ECG says until the assembly pays the debt they won’t reconnect so GHS workers have been working without light for over a month now” a source close to the situation told Bryt FM.
