Voice of The Lord Evangelical Church Akropong District has dedicated its Sunday Service for a mass health screening exercise for congregants and the entire Amanfro Akuapem community in the Okere District in the Eastern region of Ghana.
The free health screening exercise held on 10th November, 2024 was centered on the theme “Be in Good Health” with Bible reference from 3 John 2 and was targeted at members and vulnerable in the community with health related conditions such as hypertension, malaria , blood glucose, typhoid and weight.
The health team led by Carolyn Pearl Appiah in an interview at the sidelines of the screening exercise revealed that some were tested positive to malaria , hypertension and arthritis.
According to her “there were anti-malaria drugs and we advised them to take it accordingly as prescribed, new mosquito nets were given out for free to several people especially pregnant women, nursing mothers, the aged and all those who tested positive to malaria in order to help reduce and possibly curb more future cases”
“same as the malaria cases , everyone’s blood pressure was checked and most recorded high values with little number also recorded low values (hypertension)”
“known hypertensive whose drugs had finish were served medication and due medication advises were given”
Carolyn Pearl Appiah however attributed the rising symptoms and cases in arthritis among the people in the area to some farming related activities.
Adding that medications were given and also non pharmacological advise were shared among client.
On the recent outbreak of Cholera cases in some parts of the country including the Eastern region, Carolyn Pearl Appiah advised that we adopt proper hygiene practices in our various homes and communities.
The District Leader of Voice of The Lord Evangelical Church Akropong-District Pastor Samuel Young Appiah highlighted the importance of the physical and spiritual wellbeing of christians and the need to encourage members of all christian denominations to take their health issues with all seriousness.
Pastor Samuel Young Appiah moreover admonished christians to adopt the habit of regular check up to enable one know his or her health status.
He additionally indicated that the status on one’s health condition must be prioritized before even embarking on any extended fasting.
Present at the occasion were Nana Tete Odwokwao III Chief of Amanfro as special guest, Hon. Henry Prince Owiredu Aspiring Parliamentary Candidate NDC- Okere , Koforidua Area Head and Wife Apostle Alfred Addo and Deaconess Janet Addo.
