A total of 159 primary Health Care Facilities (CHPS & Health Centres) have been provided across various locations in the Eastern Region since 2017.
A lot of infrastructure has been provided to boost healthcare delivery in the Region, including:A new Regional Hospital in Koforidua currently under Construction, five (5) new 40-Bed capacity Hospitals at Achiase, Adukrom, Jumapo, Kwabeng and Nkwatia at various stages of completion, Eight (8) new District Hospitals (Agenda 111) at Apeguso, Adeiso, Akyem Swedru, Abomosu, Nsuapemso, Tease, Ofoase and Akyem Asuboa at various stages of completion and a 100-Bed Capacity Trauma Hospital at Anyinam.
This was announced by Eastern Regional Minister, Honourable Seth Kwame Acheampong at Koforidua during Town Hall Meeting and Exhibition of Projects undertaking since 2017.
He said Koforidua Regional Hospital (Design, Construction & Equipping with Teaching Facilities-Phase 1) at Koforidua-Effiduase is 46% ,Modernisation & Equipping of 4 Selected Facilities at Aburi (KOM),Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital,Kibi District Hospital and Atibie Hospital are 100% complete.
In addition,Supply Contract for Five 40-bed Hospitals in Eastern Region located at Jumapo,Nkwatia and Kwaben is 95% complete while Achiase project is 100% completed and commissioned.
The Minister said Construction of Trauma Hospital in Anyinam 85% and An Accident & Emergency Centre at Enyiresi Hospital is 45%.
Mr. Kwame Acheampong added that the Region has also completed the Construction of 15 New Hospitals,Construction of New 22 Health Centers/Clinics,Construction of 78 New CHPS Compounds,Rehabilitation of 31 Health Centers/CHPS Compounds and provided 28 Accommodation for Health Staff.
