Child birth is believe and consider by many as blessing and a gift from God since time immemorial but the narration of a 25 year old mother Gloria Teye who lives at Nkurakan in the Yilo Krobo district of the Eastern region suggest otherwise.
Gloria Teye expressed her regret of giving birth after her husband Samuel Boateng, a 36 year old man abandoned her and her triplet babies at the Eastern Regional Hospital for giving birth to twins and triplets on a consecutive time period.
She currently have seven (7) children with her husband out of which there are twins, triplets and two others.
She narrated that her husband has abandon her at the Eastern Regional Hospital and refuses to answer her calls following the news that she has giving birth to triplets and the babies are admitted at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
“My husband left the hospital after the nurse informed him that I have giving birth to triplets, we tried to call him several times but did not answer our calls”
“The last time I gave birth to twins and this time round triplets , I think that’s the reason why he is not happy because he told me things are hard during my pregnancy, even the four that we already have are burden to him”
“my husband runs a barbering shop at Nkurakan but the shop is near collapsing due to high electricity tariff and low patronage”
“We need financial support from everyone to at least pay my hospital bills for now , Ghanaians should help us we beg them” she said.
Meanwhile many other mothers are detained and stranded at the Eastern Regional hospital for their inability to foot their bills despite being discharged.
The hospital authority described the situation as worrying and appealing to the general public , family and friends to come to the aid of these mothers.
