The Ghana National Fire Service Regional Fire Commander for the Eastern region, ACFO I Jennifer Naa Yarley Quaye has revealed it has recorded seven hundred and seventy-nine (779) cases in 2022 with barely two days to end the year.
The recorded cases includes 225 domestic, 70 vehicular, 71 commercials, 21 institutional, 9 industrial, 51 electrical, 159 bush fires, 6 flood, 3 be attack, 131 accidents, 14 false alarm and 19 emergency cases.
ACFO I Jennifer Quaye indicated the service has recorded 434 casualties with 37 deaths as a result of road traffic accidents within the region.
She explained the GNFS is going to do intensive monitoring and education in 2023 at all market spaces, public institutions and others in the region to help reduce fire outbreaks.
She again disclosed her outfit has embarked on a lot of education in 2022 to help curb fire outbreaks in the region and the country as a whole.
She cautioned Ghanaians to adhere to fire safety education and respond to fire service personnel’ education in their churches, institutions, schools and other public gatherings.
ACFO I Jennifer Quaye however, advised farmers to be careful in the harmattan season with fire in order to reduce fire outbreaks in farms.
