The Birim North District Security Council has put in place measures to issue a ban on careless spectacles or any form of vehicular display during funerals.
The DCE Hon Remond Nana Damptey made this revelation on Friday in his sessional address at the 1st ordinary meeting of the 1st session of the 8th assembly of the Birim North Assembly.
He stated that the Disec held an emergency meeting with the leaders of the GPRTU and other transport unions in the district on the gory accident which occurred at Mamaso last Saturday.
‘’upon extensive deliberations, it was resolved that there should be a ban on careless spectacles often displayed by drivers, motor-riders, pragya riders and the like during funerals.’’
The District Chief Executive, Hon Remond Nana Damptey addressing the assembly lament that, the district has enjoyed relative peace in the period under review though there was few cases of chieftaincy disputes, thefts illegal mining activities. This achievement is a result of sacrifice and good work of the district security council.
On education, he explained that during the period of review the assembly through the district education directorate distributed 550 dual desk to 28 basic schools in the district. The assembly also committed to resources to infrastructure development, STEM and Girls in ICT.
Finally he added that, there are 924 People With Disability in the district and as at now 896 are registered on free NHIS with 28 yet to be registered. According to him 13 of the PWDs has received start-up -kits from the assembly common fund, 25 in Education, medical support 2( artificial let and plastic surgery) and many more.
