Local Journalists in Kwahu Afram Plains North District in Eastern Region have fact check the construction of the Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound in Adukrom.
According to their verdict, the project has faced significant delays and left to rot in the bush.
The project, which was reportedly 70% completed according to the performance tracker, has been halted for over two years, causing concern among local residents.
During a recent visit to the area, it was observed that work on the CHPS Compound has stagnated, leaving the community to rely on a single room as their health center.
This limited space is inadequate for the community’s healthcare needs, and the lack of progress on the project has led to difficulties in attracting healthcare professionals.
Healthcare practitioners currently commute from Donkorkrom due to the absence of local accommodations, creating additional challenges in providing consistent medical care.
The community has repeatedly appealed for the completion of the CHPS Compound, but efforts to resolve the issue have been unsuccessful.
The stalled project poses a significant challenge to the health and well-being of Adukrom residents, and there is an urgent need for local authorities and stakeholders to address the situation and expedite the completion of the CHPS Compound.
