The Eastern Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) is set to recognize 66 outstanding educators and non-teaching staff through the 2024 Outstanding Achievement Awards.
The Regional Education Directorate’s workforce totals 42,481, comprising both teaching and non-teaching staff.
Ahead of World Teachers Day in October 5, the Regional Education Directorate has scheduled an award ceremony on August 8, 2024, to honor exceptional staff for their contributions to the education sector.
According to the Regional Director of Education, Ivy Asantewa Owusu, PhD, out of 407 applicants, over 100 were shortlisted, with 66 selected for the awards.
Categories include Kindergarten, Primary, Junior High School, Senior High School Education, and leadership roles such as District and Municipal Directors of GES and school heads.
Themed ‘Inspiring Change: Recovery Begins with Teachers,’ the ceremony highlights the vital role educators play in shaping the future.
The Regional Education Director said special award will be given to schools in rural areas performing well despite the challenges.
She detailed the rigorous selection process and revealed that prizes include deep freezers, laptops, flat-screen TVs, and a brand-new saloon car for the ultimate winner, donated by Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Abuakwa North Constituency.
Mrs. Ivy Owusu also acknowledged the support from various organizations and individuals, whose contributions were crucial to the success of the awards ceremony.
