The 24-bed capacity Asuom Health Center, commissioned by the Ghana Oil Palm Development Company (GOPDC), is set to provide critical healthcare services to the residents of Akyem Asuom and neighboring communities. The center is fully equipped with modern medical facilities and staffed by trained healthcare professionals.
During the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Shetty Gangadhar, Chief Executive Officer of GOPDC, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to the well-being of the communities where they operate.
He stressed the importance of access to quality healthcare and promised to continuously support the clinic with necessary resources to ensure its smooth operation.
“To the health workers and development committee members, I urge you to ensure that this facility is properly maintained. A well-maintained health facility is vital for its continued service to the community,” he stated.
The journey to establish the health center began on September 11, 2023, with a groundbreaking ceremony. A year later, the project has come to fruition with a total investment of GHS 1,360,417.14. This sum covered the construction, installation of hospital equipment such as beds, patient monitors with stands, ward screens, furniture, curtains, and laboratory services, as well as the repainting of older hospital blocks.
Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin (Okyehene), the special guest of honor, lauded GOPDC for providing such a crucial facility to the community.
He urged other corporate organizations to follow GOPDC’s example by investing in community development to enhance the lives of the people.
The residents of Akyem Asuom and surrounding communities expressed deep gratitude to GOPDC for the clinic and pledged to take good care of the facility. They also extended their appreciation to Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin for attending the event and supporting their community.
