Chairman of the Abuakwa North branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) Hon Chairman Yaw Kissi Atua popularly called Chairman General,has donated a cloth worth Ghc1000.00 each to the drivers in the Municipality to celebrate this year’s Christmas festival.
According to Chairman Atuah, drivers in the Municipality has exhibited a high sense of professionalism, discipline and courtesy to passengers and they needed to be honoured as the year is getting to an end.
The items were branded T-shirts and Holland cloth. Inaddition, the chairman gave out a package to the best driver of the year 2022 as a way of motivation.
The presentation was made by KB transport union chairman, chairman Sayoga at the New Tafo lorry Station
Also present at the presentation were, the vice chairman of the GPRTU AbuakwaNorth, representatives from other drivers union, the station master, and the GPRTU branch secretary.
Chairman Yaw Atuah, used the opportunity to advised the drivers to avoid, overloading, over speeding and unnecessary over taking to spare the public the agony of road accidents. He also commended the drivers plying New Tafo to Old Tafo, New Tafo to Blumich, New Tafo to Anyinasin and other areas for maintaining their accident – free record and advised them to maintain it.
Speaking to some drivers who received the items said they are grateful for what chairman has done for them, thanked him and described the gesture as timely.
“I was surprised when I heard from my colleagues that Chairman Atua want to meet us, infact I was not expecting these items from him, what chairman has done today we are grateful, may the almighty God continue to bless him, a driver stated.
