Invasion of fulani herdsmen at Tinkong in the Akwapim north district of the Eastern region is posing threat to the livelihood of residents of the community.
Per confirmed report, the fulani herdsmen came to the community about a week ago but their impact on the people have been hardly felt by residents.
Residents complain the cattle are destroying the only source of water for the community as well as their little farm produce left for them in the harmattan season.
Assembly member for the area, Hon. Koku Agbanu speaking to Bryt fm’s Nyarko Abronoma confirmed the development but was quick to add that, the traditional authority has taken up the matter.
He revealed the chief and his elders have given the fulani herdsmen a week to relocate from the community and that residents are expecting the deadline to be coming Tuesday January, 2023.
“I saw them in the community on Friday and after approaching them, they (Fulani herdsmen) told me they were from a community after Begoro. But the chief and his elders have given them one week ultimatum to vacate the community” he added.
Meanwhile, some residents told the reporter that the presence of the fulani herdsmen has put fear in them as women are even afraid to go to farm alone for fear of being raped as reported from other areas across the country.
