In a move to empower students with the needed educational access for a brighter future, US-based Old Students Association dubbed ‘Abusua Kesie’ has donated books to Koforidua Secondary Technical School (SECTECH) to enlighten the knowledge of the students.
The donation by the Old Students Association will motivate the young students to learn hard by reading books to achieve their future aspirations and to help students cultivate a habit of reading.
Mr. Ofori Antwi, the Headmaster for the school, commended the old student’s association for contributing greatly to improving the standard of the younger learners in their academic field.
To him, books are important in the lives of students.
Mr. Ofori said that the donation will empower the young students to learn hard for a brighter future.
“With these books, we’re going to have our boys cultivate a habit of reading because science and technical students don’t like reading. It is our wish that all old students will come back and give their widow’s mite to uplift the development of the school,’’ Mr. Ofori told Nhyiraba Nartey Solomon of Koforidua-based Bryt FM after the donation.
He explained that the contribution by the association will enable students to take their reading seriously in their educational journey.
The president of the old boy’s student’s association, Mr. Stephen Essien expressed the association’s commitment to support the school with donations.
Mr. Stephen Essien: ‘‘technically, we don’t have a library, is one of the classrooms we are managing; the school lacks a lot of infrastructure; we don’t have an ICT lab, library, assembly hall, and host of infrastructure.’’
‘‘But the school is managing what they have, so if there is an old student somewhere who has the connection to help us get any of these facilities, we will be grateful,’’ he said.
Abusua Panyin for the old student’s association, Kweku Amoako Baah, advised the students to reduce the habit of using social media and take their learning seriously to become good future leaders in the country.
