Traders at Koforidua Zamarama Market have expressed their grievances over a planned demolition exercise by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for New Juaben South Constituency in the Eastern Region.
According to the aggrieved traders, the MCE has failed to fulfill his promises concerning the demolition exercise.
They stated that the place must be standard to redirect customers to the new center to help generate revenue for the assembly.
Speaking on behalf of the traders, Asonaba Kojo Aidoo pleaded with the Omanhene for New Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III to intervene in the ongoing misunderstanding between the traders and the MCE for a peaceful atmosphere.
In their petition to the Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III, the traders said that MCE has made a verbal agreement to provide shades, electricity, security and place to store their goods before their relocation.
Asonaba Kojo indicated that the MCE has ordered the traders to move from their current location by Friday, May 24, 2024.
Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III in his response, stated that traditional leaders support development of communities adding that the relocation of the traders must be done peacefully without disputes in the municipality.
