Lance Corporal Pabby Saraphina, a police officer stationed at the Eastern Regional Police Headquarters, has completed 120-hour painting marathon on September 25, 2024, at 3:00 pm, as she attempts to break the Guinness World Record for the longest painting session.
Throughout the five-day marathon, Pabby Saraphina completed 105 nature-inspired paintings.
The current record stands at four days, but Pabby is determined to surpass it with her five-day, 120-hour painting journey.
Having applied for the record last year, she has been preparing extensively, confident that her endurance and dedication will earn her the prestigious title.
She told the media in Koforidua after a brief closing ceremony that her effort is part of her mission to promote female artists in Ghana.
In addition to her marathon, Pabby revealed her ambition of establishing an art gallery to showcase her talent and passion for painting.
She is also awaiting the results of a previous 8-hour private marathon conducted earlier this year.
Her efforts garnered widespread support.
The Eastern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Twumasi Ankrah, alongside senior officers who had earlier visited to encourage her, returned during the closing ceremony to congratulate her for her endurance and feat.
Arts expert Ohene Sarfo, an artist and arts tutor at Koforidua GHANASS, commended Pabby’s work, highlighting her self-expression through nature in the paintings.
Some of the artworks were sold, with Dr. Martin Otu Offei, the NDC parliamentary candidate for New Juaben South, purchasing five pieces.
He expressed admiration for Pabby’s talent and linked her art to his broader vision of promoting tourism, arts, and culture in New Juaben.
Pabby’s family was present to support her throughout the challenge.
Her father, Joseph Baah, mentioned that artistic talent runs in the family and encouraged other parents to nurture their children’s creative skills to tap into the opportunities available in the arts industry.
