The Eastern Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party,NPP,Jeff Konadu has started engaging the various Constituency executives of the party to energize and strategize ahead of 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
He has met the Krobo Bloc which comprises of Asuogyaman, Lower Manya Krobo, Yilo Krobo and Upper Manya Krobo constituencies.
“I am currently engaging my hardworking Constituency executives in the Krobo Bloc to energize them ahead of 2024 general elections. I trust the leadership of Asuogyaman Constituency, Upper Manya Constituency, Lower Manya Constituency and Yilo Krobo Constituency to deliver massively come 2024 general elections for the New Patriotic Party” Jeff Konadu posted on Facebook.
He continued that “My engagement with the Krobo Bloc today is centered on 2024 campaign strategy and to also review the performance of various constituencies in the Bloc.I appreciate the love from Krobo Bloc”.
In the 2016 Presidential election,Nana Akufo of the NPP had 678,482 votes (62.38%) whilst the NDC’s John Dramani Mahama had 397,549 (36.55) votes in Eastern region.
However in 2020,the ruling NPP led by President Akufo Addo polled 741,870 votes representing 60.46% in the 2020 presidential election in the region whilst John Dramani Mahama of the NDC secured 472,042 votes representing 38.47%
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) increased its parliamentary seats in Eastern Region from Five in 2016 to eight in the 2020 general election.
The NDC won the Akwatia and Ayensuano seats, two safe seats of the NPP, and reclaimed their old Upper Manya Krobo seat which they lost to the NPP in 2016.
However, the NDC party lost the Upper-West Akim seat, which has been one of their safe seats since 1996.
The party maintained their seats in the Asuogyaman, Lower Manya Krobo Yilo Krobo and the Afram Plains North and South constituencies, decreasing NPP parliamentary seats from 27 to 25 seats against NDCs eight seats of the NDC.
