Seventh-Day Adventist College of Education Asokore – Koforidua in the Eastern region has had its 14th Congregation Ceremony on the theme: “Building Resilient Education System through Quality Teacher Education”.
Hon. Seth kwame Acheapong, the Regional minister, addressing the occasion on behalf of the Vice President of Ghana Dr Mahamudu Bawumia stated that the theme for the occasion is in right direction because nation building requires resilient quality education at all levels, most especially teacher training colleges.
He assured Teacher Training colleges in this country that government will continue to commit huge investment in teacher training education and for that matter Asokore college of education will gradually turn into full flare university of education among the fifteen selected college of education in the country.
Hon. Seth kwame Acheapong touched on government’s intention to construct the state of the art auditorium and lecturer theater for the college.
“Nananom, Asokoreman, management of the college are putting up addional staff accommodation, dormitories and previous projects.
He said, SDA College has also benefited from restoration of teacher trainee allowances, construction of tarred roads on campus and additional upgrading of campus electricity.
Hon Seth Acheampong added that the Akufo-Addo-Bawumea led government has again enhanced Ghana education by investing in STEM and Tvet education country wide.
The regional minister on behalf of Dr Buwumea advised the new graduants to remember the difficulty times they went through during covid-19 era when they first got admission into the college and be guided by self discipline when impacting knowledge unto young ones and pupils in class and society as a whole so you sell to reflect the good name of the college.
Prof. Vincent Adzahlie-Mensah, Principal SDA College of Education Asokore thanked the entire management team, tutors and non-teaching staff for their contributions towards the development of SDA college of education.
He asked for more befiting projects as they plan to do programs for satellite College campus such modern, auditorium, lectures theater, Wi-Fi networking completion of all infrastructures on in the college, accommodation for staffs.
Special Guest of honour, Nana Professor George Jerry Sefa Dei, Ontario Institute for studies in education university of Toronto Canada, urged graduants to question bad situation and be problem solving characters wherever they may found themselves as young teachers.
He again urged them not entertain new trend of mental slavery by been circumspect in what they come across on social media.
