Tears and anguish were visible at the Asesewa Government hospital and the Upper Manya Krobo District Assembly Wednesday when family of the late District Works Engineer, Samuel Okantey, arrived to take his remains to Accra.
The bereaved family led by the widow could not control their tears as they watch the lifeless body of once active breadwinner who left home with hope of returning to spend the weekend with them and his children.
The body was taken into a hearse, stopped at the District Assembly to bid farewell to his colleagues before proceeding to Accra for preservation and final funeral rite on a yet to be scheduled date.
The sudden death of the District works Engineer occured Tuesday January 17, 2023.
A credible source close to the District Assembly says Mr. Okantey was visibly hale and healthy when he reported to work Tuesday morning but allegedly fainted few minutes to the closing time of 5:00pm.
The source says he was immediately rushed to the Asesewa Government Hospital by the personnel of the Ghana Ambulance Service but unfortunately pronounced dead few minutes after arrival.
The incident has shocked staff at his department and the entire assembly.
