The Yilo Krobo District Hospital is facing challenges due to inadequate staff strength, which has resulted in some existing wards not being utilized.
The 80-bed hospital facility initiated under former President Mahama was completed and opened in April, 2022 after approar over delayed operationalization.
Dr. Francisca Mensah Darkwa, the Medical Superintendent, mentioned that the hospital is not fully operational and this is negatively impacting healthcare delivery in the area.
She appealed to authorities to provide the necessary staff and equipment to improve healthcare services.
The situation was discussed during a donation event where the Somanya branch of Christ Apostolic Church International provided items such as pillows, pillowcases, bedspreads, toiletries, and water to the Yilo Krobo District Hospital and Somanya Polyclinic.
Mrs. Patricia Ametepe, representing the church, emphasized the importance of the church playing its role in supporting government efforts to develop the nation.
Additionally, Kafui Wuttor, the Head of Administration for Somanya Polyclinic, expressed concern over recent power outages that are affecting the clinic and the delivery of healthcare services in the region.
