Parts of Eastern, Greater Accra, and Central regions experienced earth tremor incidents last night.
The affected areas included the Nsawam area, Ayi Mensah -Aburi stretch, Dansoman, Oprah Square, James Town, Dome, Ashorman al, Kasoa, and, Kwabenya.
According to residents, the tremor occurred three times in some minutes apart.
Many Ghanaians who experienced it have taken to social media to share their heartbreaking feelings while others making a mockery of the incident.
The last time Ghana recorded earth tremor was 2018 which occurred in the Weija-Gbawe area.
The Ghana Geological Survey Authority said then that it was collecting data from seismological observatory stations to give definite details about what happened but didn’t share detail to the public since.
Experts say, although Ghana is far away from major earthquake zones of the World, it is still prone to earthquake disasters.
Ghana has a history of earthquakes dating back to 1615. Subsequently, we had series of earthquakes in 1636 at Axim in the Western Region, 1862, 1907, with the worst occurrence in 1939 that resulted in a lot of damage and loss of lives and property in Accra.
The Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA) has warned of imminent earthquakes following earth tremors being experienced in recent years in Ghana.
