For Immediate Release
NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS IN EASTERN REGION DEMANDS VALUE FOR MONEY IN AYENSUANO DISTRICT
Our attention has been drawn to a publication from United Television( UTV ) and a statement of clarification purporting to emanate from the Chief Executive of Ayensuano District Assembly in the person of Hon Josephine Awuku Inkoom Ansah. She claimed to have spent old 4.5billion cedis( 450,000GHc) to refurbish a motor Grader machinery with registration number( GV 465-22) of the assembly which she had an option to purchase a new one which will cost the assembly over 2 billion cedis(200,000GHc).
We would have thought that, the District Chief executive would have kept quite without any clarification on the subject matter, and not bring in the NDC.The attempt to clarify and rationalize makes mockery of her and the office she occupies because the statement lacks logical coherence, credibility and consistency.
This clearly demonstrate how the Akufo-Addo and his appointees has flagrantly abused and dissipated our public purse with impunity .To mention of a few is the Sputnik v vaccines where prices of these covid 19 vaccines were higher priced by the health minister than how they were being sold to other countries and also quiet higher than equally efficient vaccines on the market without recourse to our procurement regime.
We are also much astonished to hear such colossal amount of money spent on only refurbishing of a motor Grader machinery taking into cognisance huge developmental deficit of this rural district, coupled with their low revenue mobilization which is inadequate to cater for the social needs of the district.
Let us put on record, that this said equipment was purchased under the NDC government. Since the NPP assumed office, they have not added any new one to help make the roads of Ayensuano residents motorable.
Again, the said overhauling the DCE talks about was done from funds from the Member of Parliament paid directly to JA Plantpool where the services was procured. It is therefore surprising that the DCE will declare such figures.
Having regards to such confusion, We are by this release demanding an investigation and publication of the procurement details which in our view will dispute her statement of clarification.
We, also, demand that the District Chief Executive be immediately made to step aside pending investigations into the utilization of public funds under her tenure.
We wish to urge every citizen of Ayensuano district to take keen interest in this matter to ensure value and accountability for their money.
