In a remarkable feat of medical expertise, the Obstetrics and Gynaecology team at Eastern Regional Hospital, led by the accomplished Dr. Francis Wuobar, are celebrating
the successful delivery of quadruplets through a caesarean section that lasted just an hour.
The quadruplets, a true rarity in the world of childbirth, consist of two boys and two girls.
Their weights at birth ranged between 1.4kg and 1.9kg. What makes this event even more extraordinary is that the quadruplets resulted from a 1:5000 rare natural conception, highlighting the remarkable journey of their parents.
The proud parents of the quadruplets, both dedicated farmers hailing from Owurakese near Asamankese in the Eastern Region, were overwhelmed with joy at the safe arrival of their four bundles of joy.
However, they also expressed their concerns about the financial challenges associated with caring for four infants simultaneously.
The good news is that the mother and her precious newborns are currently in stable condition and are on the path to a healthy recovery, thanks to the expertise and care provided by the medical team at Eastern Regional Hospital.
This surgical team consisted of a skilled group of healthcare professionals, including Obstetrician Gynaecologists, Paediatricians, Midwives (Designated Assessment Resuscitation Team), Anaesthetists, and the Theatre team. Their collaborative efforts made this remarkable and safe delivery possible, showcasing the dedication and skills of the medical community in the Eastern Region.
The successful birth of these quadruplets serves as a testament to the incredible medical talent and the joy that can be found even in the face of unique challenges. It’s a moment of celebration not only for the parents but for the entire Eastern Regional Hospital community and the medical field as a whole.
