The Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, has praised the Apostolic Church–Ghana for its vital role in advancing social development alongside its spiritual mandate as the church celebrates 90 years of ministry.
Speaking at the anniversary convention held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Jackson Park in Koforidua, the Minister commended the church for being more than a place of worship, describing it as a driving force for social progress in Ghana.
“Your involvement in social development, health, and education initiatives highlights that the Church is a catalyst for social change, in addition to being a house of worship. The people of Ghana and the Eastern Region continue to appreciate this,” she said.
Over the past nine decades, the Apostolic Church–Ghana has contributed significantly to moral training, education, healthcare delivery, and community empowerment. The Minister noted that these efforts complement government’s development agenda and help shape responsible, God-fearing citizens.
Reflecting on the convention’s theme, “The God Who Answers by Fire” (1 Kings 18:24), she encouraged the congregation to remain resilient in the face of social and economic challenges, stressing that God’s faithfulness, coupled with the church’s active role in society, continues to bring hope and transformation.
Hon. Adjei Awatey further emphasized the importance of church–state collaboration in national development:
“We believe that when the state and church co-operate, moral and spiritual renewal, along with economic growth, are achieved. By working together, we can raise a generation that is patriotic, hardworking, and God-fearing.”
She urged the Apostolic Church–Ghana to build on its legacy of community service as it marks this milestone, and challenged the church to intensify its contributions in the areas of education, health, and social interventions in the years ahead.
The Minister end her speech by extending government’s gratitude and well-wishes, expressing optimism that by the church’s centenary celebration in 2035, its impact on both spiritual and social development would be even more profound.
