The Eastern Regional Minister Designate Rita Akosua Awatey has paid courtesy call on chiefs in Krobo land to pray for their support and blessings ahead of her vetting .
The Minister designate and her entourage visited Manya Krobo Traditional Council , Okper , and Yilo Krobo traditional council.
She was welcomed with cheers from residents and queen mothers amidst display of Krobo traditional songs and dance.
Paramount Chief of Manya Krobo Nene Sakite II pledged support of the traditional council to the Eastern Regional Minister Designate in every step of the way to ensure she succeeds.
He said, he is personally happy that President John Mahama has nominated her expressing confidence in her competence and capabilities.
Nene Sakite II assured that the chiefs and queen mothers in Krobo land will be present in their numbers to support her during the vetting.
Oklepeme Nuer Annorbaa Sasraku II, Paramount Chief of Yilo Krobo, also pledged full support from his council, celebrating Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey as the first female Regional Minister from Krobo land. He expressed confidence she will become an outstanding female Regional Minister.
He commended President Mahama for recognizing the contributions of the Krobo people, citing the past appointment of Seth Terkper as Finance Minister and the current nomination of Rita Awatey as a continuation of this acknowledgment.
Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey assured to serve with humility to address various challenges including poor roads, illegal mining, insecurity,youth unemployment,economic inequalities among women facing the region
The entourage of the Minister Designate included David Tettey, Regional Vice Chairman of NDC , Shirley Naana Ampem, Regional Organizer,Hackman Kabore, the Regional Organizer and his Deputy David Dakudzi among other Executives from the Krobo bloc.
