A book of condolence has been opened at the Eastern Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Koforidua in honour of the late Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah.
The book, which opened on Sunday, August 10, 2025, will remain available until Thursday, August 14, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., to allow party members, supporters, and the general public to pay tribute to the late statesman.
Dr. Omane Boamah, an “illustrious son of the Eastern Region,” died alongside seven others in a tragic helicopter crash, plunging the country into mourning.
The NDC says his death is a great loss to the party, the region, and the nation.
In a statement signed by Eastern Regional Chairman Ing. Mark-Oliver Kevor,PhD, the party praised Dr. Omane Boamah’s dedication, integrity, and patriotism, highlighting his service in various government roles — including Deputy Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Minister for Communications, Spokesperson to the President, Director of Elections, and Minister for Defence.
“He served with humility, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the people of Ghana,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, another book of condolence has also been opened at the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council, where Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey and some municipal chief executives have signed.
