Ahead of the December Presidential and Parliamentary elections in Ghana, the Electoral Commission has started engaging key stakeholders for Peace Initiatives to ensure peaceful polls.
The Peace Initiatives, according to the Chairperson of the Commission, Madam Jean Adukwei Mensah, includes the invitation of Influential selected leaders to join calls for peace before, during, and after the general elections.
Speaking at the launch of the second edition of “Agent of Peace Campaign” by the Church of Pentecost, the EC boss said they are working with some selected Musicians to compose peace songs dubbed” Vote for peace, do not be allow yourself to be used by politicians to incite violence” and this will target the Youth.
She said the preparation of peace messages on video and audio is underway to be played on Radio and Television stations starting from October to create awareness on the need for peaceful polls.
The Electoral Commission chairperson revealed that they are also working to secure peace messages from former presidents, Religious leaders, Traditional Leaders, and Youth leaders across the Country.
