The General Manager for Lost Reduction in the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Dr. Berlinda Yeboah Dwamina has appealed to workers in the Company to make Customer Service Unique and their priority to strengthen their relationship in service delivery.
She said the work of staff should not solely focus on Bills Distribution, Money Collection and Power Disconnection only because without the Consumers, the company with not be much useful.
Speaking at the launch of Smart Prepaid Electricity Meter for consumers of Power in the West Akim Municipality in the Eastern Region, Dr. Berlinda Yeboah Dwamina stressed on the need for special attention to be giving to customers who have issues with services and charged staff to lead customers to the appropriate Departments for their issues to be addressed.
The Lost Reduction Manager called on staff to be inclusive in Public Education on the need to use Prepaid Smart Meters for customers to apply for it to address Commercial Lost in Production, adding, the projects has come to stay and it is improving revenue collection for the company.
She charged ECG staff to make sure that they deliver Smart Prepaid Electricity Meter request to customers within ten working days without excuses to encourage others to apply for it and said the standard application period is ten working days, Express service in five days and premium within 24 hours, all with special charges as service fee approved by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission.
About 4,000 Smart Prepaid Electricity Meters are expected in the West Akim Area to be manufactured by Gamma Power Distribution Limited.
Under the project, the company plans to replace postpaid, non-smart prepaid and faulty meters in the region with MMS-compliant smart prepaid meters over the next five months.
Mr. Ebenezer Teye Korbla ,Accounts Officer for GAMMA said the Company was established in 2017 incorporated as a Privately owned Engineering Company specialized in the field of Electronic Energy Meter Manufacturing, Metering Solutions, Power Transmission, Distribution Systems and Generation, and EPC Solutions among others for West African Power Sector.
He added that GPDL has been promoted by Mr. Manas Ranjan Rath, who is the Chairman and Managing Director of the Company and had installed over 155,400 meters so far.
