“Barely few hours after the attention of the international community was drawn by the legal team of Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Koijee to an unorthodox statement made by a Liberian who’s identified as “Bill Carson”, the Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) Ambassador Josephine Nkrumah has also alarmed over the threats on her life.
In a comment via his Facebook page while following the Costa Show, Carson indicated that he wanted the Monrovia City Mayor to carry the ECOWAS ambassador down six feet in an attempt to draw the international community attention to rights violations and other crimes.
“I want Jefferson Koijee to send the ECOWAS ambassador six feet: then the international community will wake up”.
In a letter dated March 3, 2023, Amb. Nkrumah told the Ministry of Justice that the comment is considered a grave threat on her life and staff of the ECOWAS mission.
“Accordingly, I request the Ministry of Justice to take steps in investigating this matter and assure you of my cooperation in this regard. I look forward to your urgent attention to this threat on my life and possible security implications for ECOWAS staff in the resident Representation office in Liberia”, Amb. Nkrumah communication noted.
The ambassador letter was addressed to Cllr. Frank Musa Dean, Minister of Justice and also Cc the minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the ECOWAS Commission.
The ECOWAS ambassador alarm of threats on her life is coming at the time when there is a major unresolved murder case involving the former Chief Justice Daughter Charloe Musu. Charloe was murdered in February 22, 2023 and Police is yet to identify and or arrest the perpetrator (s).
However, Cllr. Scott and family are requesting the total involvement of the International community to investigate the matter and ensure Justice for the late Charloe.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Justice is expected to launch an investigation into the threats made against the ECOWAS Resident Representative.”
