The African Union (AU) expresses its disappointment in the decision made by military regimes in Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger to withdraw from the West African regional economic bloc, ECOWAS.
In a statement put out on Tuesday, the AU Commission’s Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat called on regional leaders to “intensify dialogue between ECOWAS leadership and the three aforementioned countries.”
The three nations claim that ECOWAS was endangering their sovereignty.
