The Ministry of Education has said it is quite unfortunate the Christmas vacation has been in sections and calls on teachers to bear with the Ghana Education Service on this inconsistency for the benefit of pupils.
Deputy Public Relations Officer for ministry, Ernest Akosah in an interview noted that Junior High Schools have a break for the festivities but indicated that the date for primary schools has been extended to December 17, 2021.
According to him, the situation is due to the writing of national standardized examination to test the pupils in Mathematics and English.
Mr. Akosah further identified that the examination focuses on making the children develop interest and also have in-depth knowledge in Mathematics and the English language since these subjects build a foundation for their future.
He, however, urged parents to be careful of their children’s movement during the yuletide to prevent them from engaging in social vices.
