Although she could not get the chance to reach a higher level in Education and later became Hairdresser, She has vowed to make education her priority as Member of Parliament for the Akwatia Constituency in the Eastern Region.
Honorable Mercy Adu Gyamfi Bello, Popularly known as “Amasey” has reiterated her commitment to invest massively in Education with her percentage in the District Assembly Common Fund and her monthly salary.
Speaking at Akwatia Technical Institute Honourable Mercy Adu Gyamfi Bello encouraged school children to study hard to become future leaders of the Country.
After donating 150 dual desks to the School, the MP emphasized the need for parents to invest in education and called on other stakeholders to play their role for the County to be one of the best in terms of education in the continent.
According to her, the educational sector in her Constituency has benefited from Computers for Teachers and students, Motorbikes for all Circuit supervisors in the Denkyembour District, Financial support for Brilliant but needy students, Renovation work in some Schools and Construction of classroom block for Some Communities.
Mrs. Mercy Adu-Gyamfi attended Presby Middle School in Akwatia in the year 1988 and obtained Middle School Leaving Certificate. (MSLC) and a member of the New Patriotic Party, the majority group in parliament and a member of the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.
She is a member of some committees in Parliament; she serves on the Committee on Employment and social welfare and housing committee.
She is a businesswoman and a hairdresser by profession and became a member of Ghana’s parliament in December 2016 when she won the seat for Akwatia constituency in the Eastern Region. She was a managing director, of Amasey Pharmacy, in Kade, in the Eastern Region.
