The 2023 batch of Junior High School leavers have been urged to consider choose subjects that they can learn and become what they wish to be in life but not to be forced to pursue a course they don’t have any knowledge about it so that they can acquire required skills for the 21st century job market as well as aid a hustle free placement in secondary schools.
The Junior High School Students who took the Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE) a few weeks ago are expected to select their choice of Secondary Schools for the computerized placement soon.
The placement system has always been fraught with challenges as in many cases students find it difficult to be placed in a secondary school by the computerized system.
But according to experts, these challenges can be reduced when students are guided by their performance as against the category of schools they choose and the kind of programs that are ran there.
At the 2023 conference organised for JHS leavers within the Effutu Municipality, Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament and also the Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency Hon Alexander Afenyo – Markin charged students to choose courses strictly based on their interests and capabilities.
He has however announced his support for students who may pass the BECE exams and their from poor homes since he is poised to helping every student to be enrolled into second cycle school.
Meanwhile, the Winneba Divisional Police Commander, ACP Jeffrey Darko admonished the JHS leavers to avoid indulging themselves in any criminal activities as well as urged them to be security conscious while they wait for their results.
