The general public is informed that 11th July 2022 is a statutory public holiday, according to the Interior ministry.
This follows the marking of ‘Eid-ul-Adha’ which falls on Saturday, 9th July 2022.
However, the President of the Republic of Ghana has upon powers invested in him by the constitution declared Monday as a public holiday and must be observed.
Eid al-Adha is the second and biggest of the two main holidays celebrated in Islam.
It honours the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of obedience to Allah’s command.
