Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor joined the Vice President of the Republic, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, at the opening of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) Eighteenth Plenary Session and GEO Week, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
GEO is an intergovernmental partnership organization that envisions a future where decisions and actions for the benefit of humankind are informed by coordinated, comprehensive and sustained Earth observations.
The GEO Week is a platform for knowledge exchange, learning and international collaboration on earth observations.
In a related development, as a Board member of Digital Earth Africa, an Australian government-funded initiative that uses data from earth observations to address challenges in Africa, the minister participated in a panel discussion on Digital Earth Africa’s operational services on the continent.
Working with relevant Government agencies, Digital Earth Africa is addressing some of the major challenges in Africa, including Forest depletion and land degradation.
The objectives of this organization align with the mandate of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, and we will continue to work with them to ensure the sustainable development of our country and the continent at large.
