Independent contender for the parliamentary seat in the Ejisu by-election, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, has stated that he won’t be bothered by the result of today’s exercise, win or lose.
The former congressman from Ejisu claims that his motive is sufficient because he can answer to the calls of his constituents to run for the seat again and carry on his excellent work.
Mr. Aduomi disclosed his loyalty and stated that, should the election go his way, he will utilize his discretionary power as a legislator to represent Ghana’s interests in the legislature, provided that the subject being discussed on the floor benefits the State.
He stated that because of the way he carried out his duties during each of his legislative terms, he is well-liked by the NDC, which supports the claims that the opposition is behind him.
“Now I am independent. But when I was in Parliament, the reason the NDC liked me for people to call me an NDC is because whenever Mahama brought anything up and I realised it was good for the progress of the state, I supported it.
“So if I go to Parliament, I will serve the interest of Ghana. It will not bother me whether I win or lose. My ability to respond to the call of my people to continue from where I exited gives me joy. So what I will say is that, I will remain as an independent candidate and think independently,” he said in Twi on Onua TV’s morning show, Maakye, Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
