Inspector-General of Police (IGP), James Oppong-Boanuh has warned Ghanaians not to take the law into their hands as they are ready to deal with lawbreakers who have made their mind to be violent ahead of 2020 general elections.
According to him, the police service is ready to deal with youth groups or individuals who intend to undermine the security of the country.
He assured that men and women of the police service are deployed to protect law and order during and after the 2020 election.
Addressing a gathering in Tamale, Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh also pledged the readiness of the police service to maintain law and order before, during, and after the 2020 election.
“Let no one should attempt to disturb the peace of our lovely country,’’ he advised.
Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh took the opportunity to advise police personnel to professional in the discharge of their duties ahead of the 2020 general election.
In furtherance, Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh asserted that there is a need for collaboration between the security agencies and the citizenry to ensure that the 2020 general elections are not characterized by any incidents adding that the police service is ready to maintain law and order before, during and after the 2020 polls
“We have to follow laid down procedures to police the ballot and protect lives and properties,’’ he advised.
He, therefore, urged the youth in particular not to allow themselves to be used by self-seeking politicians for their interest.
