Deputy Director-General of National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) who is also in charge of Technical in the Eastern Region, Seji Saji has said that they are preparing towards disasters and similar emergencies ahead of December 7, elections.
According to Seji Saji, State agencies mandated by law are preparing a response to disasters and similar emergencies.
During a Pre-election 2020 simulation exercise in Koforidua, Seji Saji added that National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Ghana Police Service, National fire service some other agencies does not have the resource in dealing with elections by their own.
Speaking to the press in Koforidua, Seji Saji explained that their purpose of this exercise is to test the preparedness of their collaboration among state institutions that are mandated by the law to handle emergencies and disasters.
State agencies that play various roles are preparing ahead of 2020 general elections to coordinates their activities.
“Election is the responsibility of a citizen which comprise actions and attitudes associated with democratic governance and social participation,’’ he added.
“We are collaborating with National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Ghana Police Service, National fire service some other state agencies to deals with some incidents that must lead to the humanitarian crisis during the general elections,” he stated.
Seji Saji said the National Disaster Management organization comes in when people are displaced during elections.
“We are testing the levels of our preparedness to deal with incidents in terms movement of resource and bring the situation under control,’’ said Seji Saji.
Seji Saji said that Pre-election 2020 simulation exercise happens in three different locations, Northern region, eastern region, and Greater Accra region with various an agency to deal with the electoral crisis.
Seji Saji also explained that it is a responsibility for National EOCs to deploy re-enforces to rescue the region with electoral violence.
