The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has promised that the current unstable power supply, sometimes known as “dumsor,” will be fixed shortly.
During his campaign visit in the Eastern Region, Dr. Bawumia spoke to the clergy and Imams in Akropong on Monday, April 29, expressing confidence in the government’s efforts to address the problem.
“I know there are challenges and I don’t want to paper over economic challenges. We are going to work on them. Currently, we have issues with the power but I say that from the information I have received from the minister for energy, those power challenges will very soon, and I mean very soon be a thing of the past,” the vice president said.
Businesses, organizations, and individuals have criticized the state power distributor, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), over the recent unstable power supply.
The most recent organization to request a load-shedding schedule from the ECG to direct their activities is the Ghana Union of Traders Association.
According to the state power distributor, there is no need for a load-shedding schedule given the current situation.
