Francis Asenso-Boakye, Minister for Roads and Highways and Member of Parliament for Bantama, has declared that Mahama is ill-prepared for the presidency. He interprets this as a sign of unpreparedness and a reluctance to address the nation’s challenges immediately.
According to him, John Mahama’s recent remarks regarding the need for a “honeymoon period” if elected in 2025 is a clear indication that he isn’t ready to lead the country.
Asenso-Boakye underlined the necessity for Ghanaians to elect Vice President Dr. Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate for the December election, citing his readiness and active engagement in governance, while speaking at a New Patriotic Party (NPP) gathering during the acclamation of Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor as parliamentary candidate for the Damongo in the Savanna region.
“Former President John Mahama’s statement regarding needing a honeymoon period indicates his lack of preparedness for the job,” Asenso-Boakye asserted. “We cannot entrust our nation to someone who seeks to delay action while leadership is urgently needed.”
To him, Dr. Bawumia is ready to start work immediately he wins the presidential race “Dr. Bawumia will hit the ground running from day one, addressing the challenges facing our nation with his bold solutions.”
With hope for the NPP’s future progress, Asenso-Boakye called on Ghanaians to honor the party’s labors by endorsing its nominees.
Additionally, he praised Damongo MP Samuel Abu Jinapor as a hardworking young leader committed to the advancement of his constituency and urged supporters to support him in the 2024 elections to ensure the region’s continuous development.
Prominent NPP figures gave speeches at the occasion, including Justin Frimpong Koduah, the party’s general secretary, Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Minister for Chieftaincy and Culture, and Fatimatu Abubakar, the minister-designate for information.
