The New Patriotic Party (NPP) cannot end the eight-year electoral cycle, according to Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), because the government has not kept any of the promises it made to Ghanaians.
He suggested that the NDC has a strong chance of winning the 2024 elections and bringing Ghanaians beneficial policies.
Mr Ofosu-Ampofo stated to Alfred Ocansey on 3FM Sunrise on Monday, July 18, 2022, that winning the election to become a party in power requires more than just setting up a conference to elect party executive officers. The newly chosen national executive officers of the NPP were compared to old wine in a new bottle, according to him.
Therefore, the NPP cannot be rescued by magic from losing the general election in 2024.
“They have brought misery and hardships, economic mismanagement, and excruciating hardship onto the Ghanaian society. For that matter, I believe all that they did yesterday at the conference is just a mere exercise to satisfy the constitutional requirement of their party and has no fortunes at all as far as the 2024 election is concerned” he said.
Mr Ofosu-Ampofo stressed that any party may use the ability and opportunity to govern, control, and manage the nation effectively to build a case for the people to support them in their decision to vote for you again.
“The NPP in government has been an abysmal failure and I don’t think these ten new executives or so that have been elected will be able to change anything at all as we move into the 2024 elections” he stated.
