The Third National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Masawudu Osman, has stressed that the party will counter the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its propaganda in a professional and strategic manner ahead of the 2028 general elections.
He explained that the NPP can only achieve its mission if members remain united and work together as one team.
Alhaji Masawudu cautioned that internal accusations, insults, divisions, and the use of inappropriate language against flagbearer aspirants will only hinder the party’s chances of winning the 2028 polls. He therefore urged supporters to put aside internal differences and focus on securing victory for the NPP.
Speaking on the Bryt Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show with Kwamina Sam Biney on Bryt FM, he called on all factions to stop attacking one another and instead channel their energy into strengthening the party ahead of the elections.
He added that the party is already putting strong measures in place to face the NDC effectively.
Flagbearer hopefuls in the upcoming NPP race include Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.
Alhaji Masawudu also criticized the NDC government led by President John Dramani Mahama, describing the administration as incompetent and hypocritical.
He further confirmed that the NPP has launched its amended constitution, which introduces reforms aimed at deepening internal democracy, enhancing communication structures, and rebuilding party unity ahead of the 2028 election.
Key changes in the revised constitution include expanding the electoral college to include former constituency, regional, and national executives, as well as former Members of Parliament and former Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
The amended constitution follows months of nationwide consultations conducted by a review committee established by the National Executive Committee (NEC). The committee visited all 16 regions to gather grassroots opinions on the causes of the December 2024 electoral defeat and the reforms needed to modernize the party’s operations.
