Eastern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Twumasi Ankrah, has stated that peace during elections starts within homes and communities.
He said family members must be able to advise individuals to commit to Peace and not to engage in acts of violence.
He commended The Church of Pentecost for launching the “Agents of Peace campaign” , aimed at promoting peace through awareness and encouraging positive actions among church members in their homes and communities.
DCOP Twumasi Ankrah made this statement while speaking on behalf of the security agencies at the launch of the “Agents of Peace campaign” by the Koforidua and Effiduase Areas of The Church of Pentecost.
He assured that Eastern Region will continue to be peaceful stating that adequate security measures have been strategically planned for this year’s elections.
The campaign aims at ensuring that there is Peace before, during and after the presidential and parliamentary elections to be held on December 7,this year.
The event was attended by various stakeholders, including the clergy, the Electoral Commission, political party representatives, traditional rulers, security personnel, and students.
Students from Pentecost Senior High School and Pentecost Preparatory School, along with other participants, shared their thoughts on the campaign stating that they were much educated on their roles as agents of Peace.
Pastor Samuel Yaw Asare and Pastor Patrick Kwadwo Opoku of the New Juaben and Adweso Districts respectively also offered their insights, stressing the collective responsibility to ensure a peaceful electoral process.
