The introduction of prepaid meters in Ghana over some few years according to citizens have brought lots of stress to them especially when it’s time to pay the bills in order to get power, not to talk of the long queues.
Ghanaians were relieved when the energy ministry reveal a mobile application that would be used to pay for electricity bills just as the National Health Insurance Scheme introduced a mobile process to renew cards.
According to the Eastern Regional Public Relation Officer (PRO) for Electricity Company of Ghana Madam Mary Eshun, this new facet of introducing a mobile application is to enhance their customers pay their electricity bills easily.
Speaking to Dadi FM’s “Efa Wo Ho” morning show host, Abena Opokua Ahwenee, she said that this step taken is to help curb people who engage in illegal connections.
Process Involved:
Customers who wished to dodge the trouble of joining queues to pay bills probably due to network problems are advised:
- To visit the Google play store to download the application and follow the terms and condition to register.
- Create an account with email, phone numbers and password.
- Go to the right side button and add your meter details by clicking on the (+).
- Fill in with the details and press OK.
- You can perform every activity through the App.
Mary Eshum added that customers can dial 226 to pay their bills or call centre number 030 261 1611 for any assistance.
“The application is not purposely to pay only bills but it will also help customers share their views about the company and also take reports of people still in the habits of illegal connection as the Electricity Company of Ghana, (ECG) is putting measures in place to reduce illegal connections in the country.
You will get six per cent free when you report a person using an illegal connection,” she stated.
