Employees of the Small and Medium Scale Contractors (SMCs) nationwide have revealed how the government have starved them for the past three years.
Speaking in an interview with the media, the groups numbering about one thousand (1000) revealed they had no option but to hit the street to register their frustration if government fail to meet their demand.
“We can no longer hold it. We have been made useless and homeless in our various homes and communities because of how the government is treating us. We will sooner than later hit the streets and march on to the Flagstaff House to demand for the payment of our three years arrears “, the aggrieved members stated.
According to the hungry labourers, all attempts to get their monies paid have proven unsuccessful, however, alleging the monies have been invested into treasury bills for individual interest.
“We firmly suspect Government has released our monies for restitution, but the officials are sitting on it. They have lent it into treasure bills awaiting discounts while starving us. We want to see notifications on our phones before June ends or we will advise ourselves,” they threatened.
The workers continued, “We have ceased weeding the roadsides and this may move to road occurrences because of the fluffy highways, especially at the night. We demand action now”.
