The Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour, has urged the Police and other security services to strictly enforce the laws on social distancing and other preventive measures put in place to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The Minister made this statement when he chaired the Eastern Regional Public Health Emergency Committee on COVID-19. It came to light during the deliberations that the laws on social distancing and other preventive guidelines given by WHO and the government of Ghana have been ignored at some market centers and other public places.
The committee also directed that the Information Services Department (ISD), National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE), and the Health Promotion Unit of the Ghana Health Services should continue their public education program, especially on social distancing, wearing of face mask, stigmatization.
