The flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has admonished the Electoral Commission to ensure that the will of Ghanaians in the 2020 elections was not subverted.
He added that his party would ensure that the choice of Ghanaians in the 2020 polls was respected and upheld.
Mr. Mahama said at the launch of his campaign in Sefwi Wiawso in the Western North Region.
“We are determined and the Electoral Commission and no institution and anybody can or should try to subvert the will of the Ghanaian people. We have had the concerns to draw the Commission’s attention to the many instances of infractions and actions that have not satisfied us,” he said.
“While we are expecting the Electoral Commission will live above reproach, I want to assure you all, that the NDC is very well-prepared, and we will police the ballots from all polling stations through the constituencies to the regional and finally to the national coalition center,” Mr. Mahama added.
Meanwhile, The Electoral Commission (EC) says it would have wished that the flag bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), former President John Dramani Mahama would have personally presented his nomination forms.
According to the EC, it was hoping that Mr. Mahama and/or his Running Mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang would have been at the Commission personally on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, to present the 2020 Election presidential candidate nomination forms.
This, the EC said would have allowed the opportunity for face-to-face engagement with him [Mahama] on some of his concerns [about the preparations towards the 2020 Elections] which it said, it had noted in the media.
