Five dead bodies have so far been retrieved from some major rivers in the Eastern Region after a heavy downpour that led to the deadly floods which saw many river banks overflowing over the weekend.
Families are reporting 10 missing relatives. The death toll is likely to increase.
The Eastern Regional National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) Director, Kwame Appiah Kodua confirmed the death toll to the media.
“10 more persons have been declared missing in the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality”.
A total of 17 Municipal and District Assemblies were badly flooded as rivers Birim, Ayensu and Densu overflew their banks.
The New Juaben North Municipality recorded 2 of the deaths whilst the New Juaben South Municipality, Denkyembour and Akyemansa recorded 1 each.
