The Eastern Regional Co-ordinating Council have organized a three-day orientation training for a total of three hundred and ninety-four (394) newly recruited staff, distributed among the Regional Co-ordinating Council and all the thirty-three (33) Municipal and District Assemblies in the Region, following the recent recruitment by the Office of the Head of Local Government Service, to fill vacancies in the Local Government’s administrative structure in the Region.
The orientation training was aimed at providing a comprehensive training to the participants to help improve their efficiency and professionalism in the discharge of their duties assigned to them at their respective post.
The orientation training which started on Tuesday on the 21st, and ended on Friday, 24th November 2023, had an objective to teach the new entrants about the code of conduct, rules and regulations and organizational ethics, among others.
The Chief Director of the Eastern Regional Co-ordinating Council, Mr. John Donkor, urged the officers to consider the Local Government Service in its national essence, commit fully and remain abreast with its mechanisms to affect the realization of the vision and mandate of the Service.
Mr. Donkor entreated them to imbibe technical knowledge to take on their role effectively as technocratic bureaucrats in their various Municipal and District Assemblies in the Region.
He charged them to help maintain the good reputation of the Local Government Service and considered continuous professional development a key to the evolving working environment.
The Eastern Regional Head of Human Resource, Mr. Cyril Xatse said the program was to improve the newly recruited staff to create familiarities among them as well as understand what the Local Government is in the development of Ghana.
Mr. Xatse cited that, the Local Government Service necessitated seriousness and commitment, hence they should work assiduously in the delivery of their various job descriptives.
The Eastern Regional Director of Finance, Dr. Otopa Alexander on his part, admonished the newly recruits to adopt loyalty, teamwork, punctuality and results oriented attitude, which already exist in the Local Government Service.
He advised them to promote and protect the good cause of the Local Government Service through their conduct wherever they find themselves.
The newly recruited staff comprises Budget Officers, Administrators, Community Development Officers, Planning Officers, Human Resource Management Officers, Physical Planning Officers, Works Engineering Officers and Procurement Officers.
Presentations were made on Local Government Systems, Local Government Protocols and Cross-Cutting Local Government issues, to enlighten them on their new job.
Certificate of participation were given to all the newly recruits for successfully gone through the orientation training.
