The Department through the ANC unit, has deepened its efforts in screening and detection of early warning signs and symptoms of preeclampsia in expectant mothers.
Preeclampsia affects mostly pregnant women from 20 weeks of gestation and up to 6 weeks after delivery.
This pregnancy related hypertension can persist after six weeks of delivery making her a chronic hypertensive patient.
As part of the World preeclampsia day, the ERHK ANC has re dedicated their efforts in educating expectant mothers and post-delivery mothers on the signs and symptoms for early intervention.
Preeclampsia is one of the leading causes of maternal morbidity and mortality.
