Ghana international Ernest Nuamah is set for a time on the sidelines after suffering a horrific injury while in action for Olympique Lyon.
The Black Stars winger was forced off with an injury, just five minutes into the French Ligue 1 clash against Lille.
Nuamah sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury in his left knee following a ground duel with Lille defender Gabriel Gudmundsson.
However, Lyon have released a statement, offering support to the Ghana international.
“OL gives its full support to Ernest and will do everything possible to enable him to return in the best possible conditions” wrote the club.
The 21-year-old will not be in action when the side play host to Manchester United on Thursday in the Europa League quarter-finals.
The injury is a huge blow not only to Lyon’s campaign but also to Ghana’s national team, which values Nuamah’s pace, creativity, and work ethic.
